The Recycling Plan
for Kirklees
The Recycling Plan for Kirklees addresses the increased demand from the public for more frequent recycling collections.
The plan is introducing alternate week bin collections, increasing the frequency of recyclable collections, providing easier access for people to recycle and expanding the glass collection scheme to most households.
How will the plan work?
Week A |
Your green recycling bin will be emptied |
Week B |
The following week your grey bin will be emptied |
Week C |
Your green recycling bin will be emptied and also your glass box (if you have one) |
Week D |
Your grey bin will be emptied again |
And the whole process will begin again..
What will happen now?
If you are not already on the new scheme, you don't need to do anything now. You will be sent an information pack around 3 to 4 weeks
before your home is changed to alternate week collections. Local
drop-in sessions will be held in the weeks running up to the change,
where staff will be available to answer your questions. There will also be a Recycling &
Waste Advisors assigned to your area to provide additional support.
When will my property change to Alternate Week Collections?
The recycling plan is introduced to four refuse rounds at a time.
The boundaries of each refuse round make it difficult to state which
areas of Kirklees the recycling plan will cover next. As stated
above, you will receive a pack informing you of any changes 3 to 4 weeks
before they are due to start.
