Glass Stuff
There are over 100 glass recycling sites located across Kirklees. For details of your nearest glass recycling banks please see the community recycling sites page.
Glass is also collected from the kerbside from approximately 175,000 properties in Kirklees.
- Glass on our kerbside collection scheme is collected on the same day as green bins using a separate, specially designed vehicle.
- It is then delivered to a glass recycling plant in Barnsley. The glass is sorted into different colours and is then cleaned and crushed.
- The crushed glass is then transferred to a furnace where it is melted at very high temperatures.
- The melted glass is moulded into new glass bottles and jars which are checked for faults and then sent to be filled.
Here is a list of what can and can't be recycled in your glass box.
